Breakthrough curve
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010407
A graph illustrating the concentration of a substance at the outlet of a system as a function of time, after a continuous input of that substance at the inlet. In environmental science, it often describes the movement of contaminants through soil or groundwater, indicating when the contaminant first appears and reaches a steady concentration. This curve is used to assess transport properties and retention capacities of porous media.
