Concentration gradient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004567
The spatial rate of change of the concentration of a substance, indicating how rapidly its amount varies from one location to another. In the atmosphere, concentration gradients drive the diffusion and transport of gases, aerosols, and pollutants from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration. This gradient is a key factor in atmospheric dispersion modeling.
