Breaks in overcast

Periods of partial clearing or visible patches of sky within an otherwise continuous layer of overcast cloud cover. This observation indicates that the cloud layer is not entirely uniform or solid, allowing glimpses of the sun, moon, or blue sky. It is a common descriptor in aviation weather reports and surface observations, distinguishing it from a completely solid overcast condition.
