Cloud cover

The portion of the sky that is concealed by clouds when viewed from a particular location. It is visually estimated by observers or measured by instruments like ceilometers and satellite imagers. Cloud cover is reported in eighths of the sky, a unit called an okta, ranging from 0 for a clear sky to 8 for a completely overcast sky.
