A line on a weather map connecting points that have an equal degree of cloudiness or average cloud cover. Isonephs are drawn based on observations of the fraction of the sky covered by clouds, which is measured in eighths (oktas) or tenths. A map of isonephs shows the geographic patterns of cloud cover, distinguishing between clearer and more overcast regions for a specific time or as a long-term average.
