Sky cover

The fraction of the sky obscured by clouds or obscuring phenomena such as fog or haze, as observed from a particular location. It is typically reported in eighths or oktas, ranging from zero for a clear sky to eight for an overcast sky. This measurement is a key component of aviation weather reports and forecasts.
