Opaque sky cover

The portion of the sky that is covered by clouds or other obscuring phenomena that are thick enough to hide the sun, moon, or stars. This measurement is typically expressed in oktas (eighths) or tenths of the sky. It is a key observation in aviation and surface weather reporting to describe visibility conditions.
