Retention curve
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008548
A graph that describes the relationship between the water content of a soil and the corresponding soil water potential, or suction pressure. This curve is a fundamental property of a soil, determined by its texture and structure, indicating how strongly water is held within its pores. Land-surface models use retention curves to calculate water availability for evapotranspiration and to predict runoff generation.
