Capillary suction
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004149
The negative pressure or tension exerted on water within small pores due to surface tension forces, drawing water into and holding it within the pore spaces. This force is a key component of soil water potential, influencing water movement and retention in unsaturated soils. It is often measured in units of pressure, such as pascals or bars.
