Contaminant

Any substance present in the atmosphere that is not naturally occurring or is present at concentrations above its natural background levels, potentially causing adverse effects. These can include gases, aerosols, or particulate matter originating from anthropogenic or natural sources. Common atmospheric contaminants include sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and ozone.
