Furan polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004725
A polymer built from furan or one of its derivatives, most often furfuryl alcohol (2-furylmethanol), which gives linear, branched or crosslinked chains such as poly(furan-2,5-diylmethylene). The furan ring is an aromatic five-membered ring with one oxygen atom. It is not the same as the saturated furanose ring found in sugars, so polysaccharides such as hemicellulose are not furan polymers.
