Furanoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004727
Monosaccharides that exist in a five-membered ring form, consisting of four carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. This cyclic structure is formed through an intramolecular reaction between a carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group. Examples include ribose and deoxyribose, which are fundamental components of nucleic acids.
