Furnace pyrolysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004728

A thermal decomposition process where a sample is heated in a controlled furnace, typically in an inert atmosphere, to break down its constituent molecules. This technique is used to generate volatile products for subsequent analysis, such as by gas chromatography or mass spectrometry. The temperature and heating rate are precisely controlled to achieve specific fragmentation patterns.
