Pyrolysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009705

The thermal decomposition of organic materials, including polymers, in the absence of oxygen or other oxidizing agents. This process typically occurs at elevated temperatures, leading to the breaking of chemical bonds and the formation of smaller molecules, gases, and char. Pyrolysis is used in waste management, fuel production, and the synthesis of carbon materials.
