Glycoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004949
Monosaccharides, the simple sugars that carry a carbonyl group, aldehyde or ketone, and several hydroxyl groups and cannot be hydrolyzed into smaller sugar units. Glucose, fructose, galactose and ribose are examples. Disaccharides such as sucrose and lactose are not glycoses, because hydrolysis of each yields two monosaccharides.
