Ketoaldoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006324
Monosaccharides that possess both a ketone functional group and an aldehyde functional group within the same molecule. These are relatively rare in their open-chain forms but can exist as cyclic hemiacetals or hemiketals. An example is a sugar with a ketone at one position and an aldehyde at another.
