Aldoketoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000375
Monosaccharides that possess both an aldehyde group and a ketone group within the same molecule. These are relatively uncommon in their free form but can exist as intermediates in certain metabolic pathways or as components of more complex carbohydrates. An example would be a sugar with an aldehyde at one end and a ketone at another position in the carbon chain.
