Oximes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008400
Organic compounds characterized by the functional group C=N-OH, formed by the condensation reaction of an aldehyde or a ketone with hydroxylamine. They exist as syn and anti isomers due to restricted rotation around the carbon-nitrogen double bond. Oximes are often used in organic synthesis as intermediates or protecting groups.
