Aldoximes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000378
Organic compounds characterized by the general formula RCH=NOH, formed by the condensation reaction of an aldehyde with hydroxylamine. These derivatives of aldehydes contain a carbon-nitrogen double bond and a hydroxyl group attached to the nitrogen atom. Aldoximes can exhibit geometric isomerism (E/Z isomers) due to restricted rotation around the carbon-nitrogen double bond.
