Ketoximes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006330
Oximes derived from ketones, of general formula R2C=N-OH with two carbon substituents, made by condensing a ketone with hydroxylamine. They parallel aldoximes, which come from aldehydes and carry a hydrogen on the carbon. An unsymmetrical ketoxime exists as E and Z (syn and anti) isomers, and the Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime gives caprolactam, the monomer for nylon 6.
