Endo, exo, syn, anti
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003887
Descriptors for the orientation of substituents on non-bridgehead atoms of a bicyclic alkane whose three bridges contain x, y and z atoms, with x at least y and y greater than z. A group on the x or y bridge is exo when it points toward the highest-numbered, shortest bridge and endo when it points away from it. A group on the highest-numbered bridge itself is syn when it points toward the lowest-numbered bridge and anti when it points away from it.
