Betweenanenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001206
Bicyclic alkenes whose double bond joins the two bridgehead carbons, with both bridges attached trans across it. Each ring therefore contains a trans double bond, so small members are strained in the way small trans-cycloalkenes are. The family is named from a bicyclic skeleton in which a zero-atom bridge, the double bond itself, links the two bridgeheads.
