Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012196
A stereochemical descriptor used in organic chemistry to indicate that two specific substituents are on opposite sides of a reference plane or bond. This configuration is a type of geometric isomerism, often found in alkenes or cyclic compounds. For example, in trans-2-butene, the two methyl groups are on opposite sides of the double bond.
