Tranquilizer

A class of psychoactive drugs that reduce anxiety, tension, and agitation without causing excessive sedation or hypnosis. These agents primarily act on the central nervous system to produce a calming effect. Tranquilizers are broadly categorized into minor tranquilizers, such as benzodiazepines used for anxiety, and major tranquilizers, also known as antipsychotics, used for severe mental disorders.
