Sympatholytic

Describing a substance or drug that inhibits the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. These agents typically block the effects of neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and epinephrine at their receptors or interfere with their synthesis or release. Sympatholytics are used clinically to treat conditions such as hypertension and anxiety.
