Catecholamines
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001733
A class of monoamine compounds that possess a catechol (1,2-dihydroxybenzene) nucleus and an amine-containing side chain. They function as neurotransmitters and hormones within the nervous and endocrine systems of animals. This group includes dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine (adrenaline), which are all derived from the amino acid tyrosine.
