Adrenal gland

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000274

A pair of endocrine glands located on top of the kidneys in mammals. Each gland is composed of an outer cortex, which produces steroid hormones like cortisol and aldosterone, and an inner medulla, which produces catecholamines such as adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones regulate metabolism, immune system response, blood pressure, and the body's reaction to stress.
