Endocrine
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003891
Relating to glands that secrete hormones or other products directly into the bloodstream to be transported to distant target organs. The endocrine system, which includes the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands, is a major communication network that regulates metabolism, growth, and reproduction. This mode of signaling contrasts with exocrine secretion, where products are released through ducts.
