Chromaffin cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002037
A neuroendocrine cell found primarily in the adrenal medulla and in sympathetic ganglia. These cells synthesize and secrete catecholamines, such as adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine), in response to stress. They are characterized by their affinity for chromium salts, which stain their cytoplasmic granules brown.
