Sympathomimetic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011735
A substance that mimics the effects of stimulating the sympathetic nervous system, often by activating adrenergic receptors. These compounds can increase heart rate, constrict blood vessels, and dilate bronchi, similar to the body's 'fight or flight' response. Examples include adrenaline and noradrenaline, which are naturally occurring neurotransmitters.
