Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011738
A stereochemical descriptor for the relative configuration of two substituents on adjacent atoms in an acyclic or cyclic molecule. It denotes that the substituents are on the same side of a reference plane defined by the molecular structure. In the context of addition reactions to double bonds, syn addition means both new groups attach to the same face of the pi system.
