End-group
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003886
A constitutional unit at the extremity of a polymer chain, which differs in constitution from the constitutional repeating units that make up the main chain. These groups originate from the initiator, chain transfer agents, or termination reactions during polymerization. End-groups can significantly influence the polymer's reactivity, solubility, and overall physical properties, especially for oligomers.
