Endergonic reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003885
A chemical reaction that requires an input of energy from its surroundings to proceed, meaning the standard change in Gibbs free energy is positive. Such reactions are non-spontaneous and result in products with higher free energy than the reactants. In biological systems, endergonic reactions are often coupled with exergonic reactions to provide the necessary energy.
