Gibbs energy of activation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004877

The difference in Gibbs energy between the transition state and the reactants in a chemical reaction. It represents the minimum energy barrier that must be overcome for the reaction to proceed. This thermodynamic quantity is directly related to the rate constant of a reaction through the Eyring equation.
