Boltzmann constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001408
A fundamental physical constant that relates the average kinetic energy of particles in a gas to the absolute temperature of the gas. It is a proportionality factor in the Boltzmann entropy formula and the ideal gas law. The Boltzmann constant, denoted as k or k_B, has a defined value of 1.380 649 × 10^-23 joules per kelvin (J/K).
