Kelvin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006312
The SI base unit of thermodynamic temperature, symbol K, set since 2019 by assigning the Boltzmann constant the exact value 1.380649 × 10⁻²³ in the unit joule per kelvin. Temperatures on this absolute scale start at 0 K, absolute zero, and a temperature difference of one kelvin equals one degree Celsius. The triple point of water, 273.16 K, was the defining fixed point until 2019.
