Elementary charge
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003804
The fundamental physical constant representing the magnitude of the electric charge carried by a single proton or, equivalently, the negative of the charge of a single electron. It is a defining constant of the International System of Units (SI) and is denoted by the symbol e. Since the 2019 redefinition of the SI base units, the elementary charge has an exact, defined value of 1.602176634 × 10⁻¹⁹ coulombs.
