Mole

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007477

The SI base unit of amount of substance, defined since 2019 as exactly 6.02214076 × 10^23 elementary entities, which may be atoms, molecules, ions, electrons or other specified particles. That number is the fixed value of the Avogadro constant when expressed per mole. Before 2019 the mole was tied to the number of atoms in 12 grams of carbon-12, a relation that now holds only approximately.
