Mass

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013256

The base quantity of the International System of Quantities that measures a body's resistance to acceleration and, through gravitation, its weight; unlike weight it does not change with location. Its SI unit is the kilogram, defined since 2019 by fixing the Planck constant at 6.62607015 x 10^-34 J s. It is distinct from amount of substance, which counts entities and is measured in moles.
