Electron

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003703

A stable, elementary particle with a negative charge, belonging to the lepton family. Electrons are fundamental constituents of atoms, where they occupy orbitals around the nucleus, and their arrangement determines the chemical properties of an element. The electron possesses a charge of approximately -1.602 × 10⁻¹⁹ coulombs, known as the elementary charge, and a rest mass of about 9.109 × 10⁻³¹ kilograms.
