Henry’s law solubility constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005210
A specific form of the Henry's law constant that relates the partial pressure of a gas to its concentration in the liquid phase. This constant is typically expressed with units such as moles per liter per atmosphere or moles per kilogram per kilopascal. It is a measure of the gas's solubility in a particular solvent at a given temperature.
(via b and p) A proportionality constant relating the amount of a gas dissolved in a liquid to its partial pressure above the liquid, expressed in terms of the gas's molality in the liquid phase. This constant quantifies the solubility of a gas under specific conditions of temperature and pressure. It is typically expressed in units of mol kg-1 Pa-1.
(via c and p) A specific form of the Henry's law solubility constant where the concentration of the dissolved gas is expressed as molarity (c, moles of solute per liter of solution) and the partial pressure of the gas is p. This constant, denoted as H_cp, has units of mol L^-1 Pa^-1. It is commonly used in environmental and chemical engineering applications.
(via x and p) A specific form of the Henry's law solubility constant where the concentration of the dissolved gas is expressed as mole fraction (x, moles of solute per total moles of solution) and the partial pressure of the gas is p. This constant, denoted as H_xp, has units of Pa^-1. It is often used in theoretical treatments of gas-liquid equilibria.
