Ostwald coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008364

A dimensionless solubility measure equal to the volume of a gas dissolved in a liquid, with the gas volume taken at the temperature and pressure of the experiment, divided by the volume of the liquid solvent. It equals the ratio of the gas concentration in the liquid phase to that in the gas phase at equilibrium. For an ideal gas that obeys Henry's law it does not depend on the partial pressure.
