Surface excess Gibbs energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011646
The excess Gibbs energy associated with the formation of an interface between two phases, relative to the Gibbs energy of the bulk phases. It represents the work required to create a unit area of new surface at constant temperature and pressure. This thermodynamic quantity is directly related to surface tension in liquid-vapor interfaces.
