Surface excess Helmholtz energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011647
The Helmholtz energy associated with the formation of an interface, representing the work required to create a new surface at constant temperature and volume. This thermodynamic quantity is analogous to surface excess Gibbs energy but under different constraints. It is measured in joules per unit area.
