Gibbs surface
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004881
A theoretical dividing surface used to define the interface between two phases, where the properties of the system are considered to change discontinuously. This concept allows for the mathematical treatment of adsorption phenomena at interfaces. The position of the Gibbs surface is chosen such that the surface excess of one component, often the solvent, is zero.
