Reduced adsorption

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010044

The surface excess of a component at the interface between two bulk phases, corrected so that it does not depend on where the dividing Gibbs surface is placed, by subtracting a share of the total surface concentration weighted by the difference in composition between the phases. It has the units of amount of substance per area, not a dimensionless ratio. It is the quantity that adsorption measurements from binary liquid mixtures actually determine.
