Endemism

The ecological state of a species being unique to a defined geographic location, such as an island, nation, or other circumscribed area. This phenomenon arises from evolutionary processes and geographical isolation, leading to species found nowhere else on Earth. Madagascar is renowned for its high degree of endemism among its flora and fauna.
