Endemic

Describing a species that occurs only within one bounded geographical area, such as an island, a habitat type or another defined zone. In epidemiology the word is also applied to a disease that is constantly present at a stable level in a given population or region, as malaria is in parts of the tropics. It is the adjective that corresponds to the noun endemism.
