Ferrocenophanes

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004382

Ferrocene derivatives in which the two cyclopentadienyl rings are tied together by one or more bridging chains of atoms, named for the number of atoms in the bridge. Short bridges of one to three atoms tilt the rings away from parallel and introduce strain. Silicon-bridged ferrocenophanes with a single bridging atom undergo ring-opening polymerization to give polyferrocenylsilanes.
