Spiro compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011230
Organic compounds characterized by having at least two rings joined at a single common atom, which is called the spiro atom. The rings are typically perpendicular or nearly perpendicular to each other. These compounds are named using the prefix 'spiro-' followed by brackets indicating the number of atoms in each bridge, excluding the spiro atom.
